I have a special affinity with (American-style) Raku pottery. The excitement and unpredictability of the fast-firing and post-firing combustion process creates pots with a unique spirit and energy.
Raku pots are low-fired to cone 04 (1940 F - 1060 C), clay will still be porous and if filled with water will not leak but sweat. These pots are meant as decorative pieces, not well suited to everyday utilitarian use.
Enjoy the beauty of the accidental and the spontaneous, I refer to some of these as “flame paintings”.
